The Swedish fortress
Bohus Fästning celebrates 700 years this year, 2008.
A little history: Kungälv, a medieval town near Gothenburg, was the site of a fortress called Bohus.
At the time, 1308 to be exact, this part of the world was the southernmost area of Norway.
The fortress was built to protect Norway from the Swedes.
It's still standing after 700 years, never having surrendered in its long history, even though it has witnessed fourteen sieges. An outer wall was added in the 16th century. The only reason that some of the structure is now missing is that it once served as a stone quarry.
As SK6NL is very close to this fortress, we would like to celibrate those 700 years in a way that we can.
So now
